Hi y’all and welcome to Simply Livin’. My name is Sandy and I’ll be your tour guide while you are visiting. Please keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times. In case of emergency the exits are here…here and here.
I am a wife to ‘the Husband’
and mother to Seth,
I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. In 2002 I met a California boy via 8minutedating and 7 months later, while I was working in Moscow, Russia, he asked me to marry him.
I grew up in the blue-collar town of LaPorte, Texas, a small suburb about 30 minutes Southeast of Houston. I spent ages 8 thru 28 playing Division 1 soccer when a back injury finally did me in and forced my retirement. I had back surgery September 10, 2001 and I watched the towers fall in my hospital bed the next day.
I have a degree in Business Management. I spent the first 11.5 years of my professional career at NASA working for a prime contractor managing crew and ground procedures on the International Space Station and Space Shuttle Programs. Two months after wheels stop on the last space shuttle flight my spaceflight career ended.
I traded in my headset for a hard-hat managing project documentation for well-known global company. Then I traded states and now I am part of the project team that designs and build schools.
“No matter where you are in life right now, no matter who you are, no matter how old you are – it is never too late to be who you are meant to be.” – Esther & Jerry Hicks
I started blogging in 2006 chronicling the trials and tribulations of new motherhood. Chronicles of Red Daisy (now Simply Livin’) has seen me through training and running a half-marathon, a second pregnancy, highlights of my career at NASA, weight loss, reunions, a job loss, and a move. It has evolved to a place where I share my thoughts and experiences along with my ongoing quest do things…simpler.
“I am learning to love life by living through loss and mistakes
Lessons learned then gradually surfacing
Letting go, stripping naked to scream
I am not perfect, nor do I strive to be
I am an equal being of no race or color
Sneaking into the lives of strangers and letting them fall apart
To a new rhythm, just to feel better.” – Excerpts taken from “Retarted Disfigured Clown” – Blue October (a little hometown love)
Thank y’all for stopping by…I hope you will stay awhile and each time you come back you will come away with more than what you started with.
